What is a Vent de Bohème wall hanging made of?

A 340 g/m² polyester velvet made in Milan, Italy, printed with a pattern drawn for the brand. It measures 90 × 135 cm, with a simple hem at the bottom and a hanging sleeve at the top. At this weight, the panel hangs straight as soon as it is up, with no ironing needed. Machine washable at 30 °C.

How do I hang a wall hanging?

The simplest way: two nails in the wall, inside the top sleeve. The nail heads stay hidden inside, the fabric stretches between the two points, and from the front you see neither fixings nor a rod. You can also slide a rod into the sleeve and rest it on the nails (see the illustrations on the product pages). There are six other methods: a visible rod, a curtain pole, adhesive hooks, Velcro, a poster hanger or a cord.

Is the rod included?

No, and you don't need one: two nails are enough. A rod slipped into the sleeve makes it easier to keep the fabric taut, and means you only need a single nail above it.

Can I hang it without drilling?

Yes, if you are handy at DIY. A 90 × 135 cm wall hanging weighs about 450 g, well below the 1 to 3 kg that adhesive hooks can hold. You just need a smooth, clean wall, wiped with alcohol to remove any grease, and suitable adhesive hooks, which you can find in shops. We only recommend this solution for experienced DIYers.

How do I clean it?

Machine wash at 30 °C. It can also be ironed, always on the reverse so as not to flatten the velvet pile. That is rare for printed velvet: most can only be dry-cleaned.

Can I use it outdoors?

Yes, you can: our fabric stands up well to UV and damp.

Can I shorten it?

The easiest solution is to lower the fixing points. If the length really isn't right, cut the bottom to the length you want and sew a new simple hem by machine, like the original one; this is best left to someone who can sew.
